When 3D Printing Meets Artisanship

Technology and artisanship have their unique charms: while technology brings us overwhelming possibilities of the future, artisanship reminds us of the human stories embedded in the past. Standing in between the future and past, unfolding possibilities and flourishing human heritage, we treat Baozi Jewellery not just as an object, but a dynamic dialogue.

Although tech fashion has been a buzz word for a while, we’re quite cautious about associating ourselves with such a hot button term. Baozi Jewellery didn’t go to 3D printing technology; 3D printing technology came to meet Baozi Jewellery. Instead of using technology for the sake of technology, we’re curious about how technology can be thoughtfully used to tell the stories of individuals. Humanity is the protagonist and technology is the spotlight that highlights what may have previously been left in the shadows. In Baozi Jewellery, 3D printing plays an important role to facilitate the customisation in a more affordable and creative way.

Customisation of jewellery has been lengthy and costly in the traditional hand carving process. However, with the help of digital design and 3D printing, the try-on pieces can easily be tailored in the design file and 3D printed over and over again until the customer is satisfied. 3D printing technology also enables more creativity in jewellery design. Breakthroughs in 3D printing materials help actualise detailed shapes that are near impossible to carve by hand.

3D printing is an additive manufacturing process, which adds material one layer after another to build the desirable shape. As with the 3D printing process, Baozi Jewellery empowers you to embed your unique personal stories in the customisation process, one layer at a time.
